Philippians 4:6 says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” (NLT).
The first bit of Joshua 1:9 used to be quite fascinating to me, where God says, “have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged…” It's a “command.” Doesn't God realize it's not so easy for we humans?
The remaining part comes in, “…for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Sighs. Okay, that's a bit consoling yeah?
It becomes easy to not be afraid or discouraged when your focus stays on God. The gospel artist, Kirk Franklin, sang that “it's so hard to look up when you been down...” You walk on water when you keep your gaze on Him. When it shifts, you begin to sink. Peter would testify to that.
In our part of the world this year, I was grateful for the turn of events in the country for the main fact that it kept most persons near God. It brought us to a consciousness of the truth that we cannot do life on our own.
Beautiful as it sounds, it shouldn't exactly be so. In good and bad, we should walk with the knowledge that we truly cannot do life without Him. It is why my greatest desire for the new year is that God puts me in situations that will remind me over and again that it's all Him. Seems scary but I don't want it any other way.
“Both faith and fear demand you believe in something you cannot see. You choose.”
Back to Philippians 4:6, a few points for the new year:
1. Do not worry about anything
Pray about everything
Thank Him for all He has done.
Have a happy new year!
p.s: I promise to do better 🙏
